La Kang Chicken and Rice Introduce
For Pennsylvania residents and visitors looking for truly authentic Thai flavors delivered in a friendly, comfortable setting, La Kang Chicken and Rice in Bethlehem, PA, stands out as a premier destination in the Lehigh Valley. This Thai restaurant is celebrated not just for its classic dishes but for bringing an under-represented element of Thai cuisine—specialized chicken and rice dishes, or Khao Man Gai—to the local community. The core focus here is on high-quality comfort food and genuine street-style Thai preparation, making it a fantastic choice for those seeking a taste that is 10/10 authentic and consistently on point.
The culinary philosophy at La Kang centers on simplicity, flavor, and tradition, successfully capturing the essence of a Thai street food experience. The menu is structured around signature "Over Rice" dishes, offering a compelling alternative to standard Thai fare. The star of the show is often considered to be the "The Original" ($15.00), which speaks to the heart of Thai comfort food, showcasing a masterful preparation of chicken and rice. For those who can't decide, "The Duo Over Rice" ($19.00), featuring both fried and grilled chicken, comes highly recommended and is a perfect way to sample the kitchen's expertise. Other must-try street food options include "Ba Mii Kai Tod" ($19.00) and the popular "Pad Krapow Kai Grob" ($18.00), a crispy take on the classic holy basil stir-fry.
Beyond the signature chicken and rice, La Kang excels in delivering Thai classics and satisfying curries. Diners can enjoy beautifully executed noodle dishes like the famous Pad Thai ($15.00) and the wide-noodle favorite, Pad See Aew ($15.00), which consistently receive high marks from local customers. The "La Kang Curry" section features robust, traditional flavors with choices like Green Chicken Curry, Khaosoi Chicken Curry, and Massaman Chicken Curry, all generously priced at $19.00. The appetizers are equally enticing, perfect for sharing as small plates. The Roti Chicken Sate ($10.00) and Crispy Dumpling ($9.00) are great starting points, while the Roasted Brussel Sprout ($9.00) offers a delicious, modern vegetable side. The overall consensus from customers, including visitors from as far as California, is that everything tastes "so good," affirming the kitchen’s consistent quality and the staff’s dedication to a superior dining experience.
For a complete experience, don't overlook the beverage selection. The traditional Thai Iced Tea ($5.00) and Thai Iced Coffee ($4.00) are excellent complements to the spicy and savory flavors of the main dishes. Finally, no Thai meal is complete without a classic dessert, and La Kang delivers with its highly praised Mango Sticky Rice ($10.00), a sweet and creamy finish that is even available for catering orders. This comprehensive menu and dedication to authentic taste make La Kang Chicken and Rice a standout gem in the Bethlehem and greater Lehigh Valley culinary landscape.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1First time. Visiting from California. Fantastic. Server was attentive and polite. Ordered the duo; fried and grilled. Sate and tofu apps. Everything tasted so good. Highly recommend and would come again!
October 06 · Jon MengelEasily best Thai chain around here. The food is authentic 10/10. The taste is also on point with very good, friendly service. The vibe/atmosphere is clean and really nice, especially with Thai song in the background. As one of a few Thai restaurants, the price is not bad either. Chicken over rice is definitely one of the underrated but common Thai food, so give it a try! They are also open for the catering orders for Padthai, other Thai food, and even mango sticky rice (the owner is so kind and friendly).
April 27 · Nut S.An offshoot of La Kang, most likely the best Thai restaurant in the entire Valley, with a shorter menu that focuses on chicken preparations. This menu highlights khao mun gai, a Thai version of Hainanese chicken rice. Poached chicken sits on top of a fragrant bed of garlic-ginger rice cooked in chicken broth. The dish differs most from the Singaporean staple in its condiments. Whereas Singapore opts for a fiery chili sauce, Thailand leans on herbs and fermented products. The fried dishes here are worth getting. The breading on the chicken and eggplant was so light. It reminded me of some fried chicken chains in Southeast Asia. The fried dumplings had the texture of wonton wrappers at every single noodle stall in that part of the world. I hate using the word “authentic” to describe food, but the flavors here are the real deal Southeast Asia. They also make some noodles and curries that we’ve come to love from their other locations. Check out that perfect bowl of khao soi! Chewy egg noodles are enrobed in a golden curry with so much aromatic depth from the roots and spices, including a hint of pungency from fish sauce. The rich coconut cream is cut with some bright acidity and chili oil. Deeply crave-able.My feedback is minor. The chicken broth could use a pinch of sugar (not to make it sweet, just a tiny pinch). The pad see ew was a bit oversauced. It ended up being too sweet and too salty with significantly less char than usual. Still, the place has only been open for two weeks and they’re already operating at a very high level.
April 06 · Richard WAmazing dining experience with both delicious Thai food and top-notch service. Their dishes are packed with flavor, fresh ingredients, and the perfect balance of seasoning. The staff is friendly, attentive, and ensures a smooth and enjoyable visit. Whether you’re dining in or taking out, the quality and consistency make this spot a must-visit for anyone craving great Thai food and excellent service!
