Located at 135-38 39th Ave, Flushing, NY 11354, USA, this establishment is known for its signature Thai-style Hainan Chicken, a variation of the famous Southeast Asian staple. The name 'Betong' itself is a nod to a region in Southern Thailand near the Malaysian border, which is renowned for its specific breed of chicken and the local take on this classic dish. This informs the restaurant's specialization in rich, flavorful chicken rice and complementary Thai-inspired offerings.
The menu at Betong Hainan Chicken is designed for comfort and efficiency, making it a popular destination for Lunch, Dinner, and Solo dining. The dining atmosphere is Casual, catering perfectly to a quick, satisfying meal in a busy New York City neighborhood.
While the focus is clearly on the chicken, the inclusion of Thai restaurant classics ensures a broader appeal. Customers can choose from an array of appetizers like Roti Canai Dipping Curry Sauce and a selection of vegetable sides, all designed to complement the main chicken and rice dishes. Choosing Betong Hainan Chicken is worthwhile for New Yorkers in the Flushing area who are looking for a dedicated, specialized take on a beloved Southeast Asian comfort food. While most Thai restaurants offer Hainan Chicken as a secondary dish, Betong makes it the star, drawing inspiration from the Thai region of Betong to craft their signature plate. The establishment’s specialization in this dish, served both steamed and fried, ensures a focused and authentic experience that can be hard to find at a standard Thai eatery.
The restaurant’s strength lies in its ability to serve fast, fulfilling, and value-focused meals. Coupled with the inclusion of popular Thai noodle and rice dishes like Pad Thai and the aromatic fried rice options, Betong offers enough variety to keep regular customers satisfied. The friendly service, noted as being Good for kids, and the essential amenities like a Restroom add to the overall convenience.
However, potential diners should be aware of a critical point mentioned in customer feedback: the business has reportedly operated as cash only at times. Despite this potential logistical hurdle, the restaurant remains popular for its Comfort food offerings and its niche focus on a delicious, specialized chicken dish, solidifying its position as a go-to spot for a quick, authentic, and unique meal in Queens.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1DO NOT come to Betong. They are cash only, so I gave them a 20$ bill for my 10$ meal. They didn’t have enough change, so they only gave me 1$ back? Sorry, but if you are cash only you should have cash to give back as change…Everything about the meal was plain.. They use plain rice, plain chicken, instead of fragrant ingredients. And this place really needs urgent updates. (they do not have most of the things on their menu) I wonder how they stay in business, it’s questionable.
December 01 · epicturtlemasterHave had hainanese chicken before and what i got was slightly salty sticky white rice (sushi rice) and skinless chicken chopped up with a minor splash of soy sauce. Should have read the latest reviews they are telling the truth. For 10 dollars I could get cheaper hainanese chicken with actual chicken flavor rice Or save money and make it at home - even that is better than what I got. I tossed it out after a few bites. Sauce I got was mixed chili soy sauce not separated either. Place prob going to close as it was dead on a sat.
March 15 · Christina kokoWent there for lunch. Chicken is their offer, but sadly their dishes of chickens were not tender at all (only a few were good). Their nan is mostly supermarket bought, I will not recommend at all. Curry chicken's potato were hard and raw, chickens were cold seems like just came out from fridge and heated up quickly. The other chicken was bad too, msg are all over, chicken was not tender.....A disappointment for a chicken specialty restaurant that is worse than a below average restaurant. Will not come again.
October 22 · Mcken MakSorry for writing this but really not worth the visit.. $10 for a lunch plate, no sides, comes with plain soup (nothing in it.)I got a mix chicken rice (steamed & fried.) one was dry and one was oily. I couldn’t finish it.My friend’s pork chop was dry and oily at the same time.Surprisingly, the only good thing was the rice.
June 24 · Julia HOrdered on Ubereats at 230pm and order wasn’t ready until more than an hour later. We ordered the family meal for 2. I got plain rice and cabbage instead of chicken rice and sautéed green beans.
