Pye Boat Noodle Introduce
For New Yorkers seeking a truly immersive and specialized Thai dining experience, Pye Boat Noodle in Astoria, Queens, is a destination that captures the essence of Thai street food. The restaurant is not a typical Thai-American fusion spot; instead, it is celebrated for its hawker-style take on cuisine, particularly specializing in the aromatic, rich, and customizable noodle soups that were traditionally sold from small boats along Bangkok's canals—hence the name “Pye Boat,” which means paddles in Thai.
The atmosphere at Pye Boat Noodle is a major part of its appeal. The interior is designed to evoke a Thai seaside locale with a fun, rustic, and whimsical décor, often featuring Tiffany-blue and white clapboard accents and vintage Thai pop art. This cozy and trendy vibe, combined with the friendly and fast service, creates a memorable dining experience that is highly valued by Astoria locals and visiting tourists alike.
The menu is highly focused, showcasing its signature noodle bowls. The specialty Pye Noodle Soup section includes the highly-praised Boat Noodle With Pork and Boat Noodle With Beef—served in a rich, dark broth flavored with soy and anise—and the popular Sukhothai Noodle, known for its balanced spicy, sour, and sweet notes. A standout feature is the traditional practice of serving the food with a caddy of condiments (including chili flakes, pickled chiles, and crushed peanuts), allowing New Yorkers to customize their noodle soup to their precise preference, just as they would in Thailand.
Beyond the soups, the menu offers a strong selection of wok-fried noodles, including Pad Thai, Pad See Ew, and Pad Kee Mao. The appetizer menu, labeled as Pye Snacks and Pye Special Snacks, features unique items often found on the streets of Thailand, such as Taro Rolls, Chive Pancake, Fried Pork Strips, and Moo Ping (marinated pork skewers). The restaurant’s commitment to quality is evident in its dedication to using fresh ingredients, such as serving mangoes only when they are perfectly ripe and in season.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1Pye Boat is a beloved favorite in Astoria. They are a fun hawker take on Thai food, so their menu is a bit off the beaten path of what you would find at most Thai restaurants. Hawker-style has a market stall, street food feel and their interior is decorated to match the vibe too. They specialize in boat noodles bowls in aromatic broths, topped with meat and veggies. I can only speak on behalf of the vegetarian items there and there is a decent selection for vegetarians, lots of wok noodles and noodle soups that can be made with tofu, seitan, and veggies. There are a handful of vegetarian appetizers too. However, I will say their vegetarian options, while hearty, may not have as strong of a flavor pallet as the meat items—I’d recommend this place more for meat eaters.I’m a big fan of their wok noodles and papaya salad! Definitely give it a try if you’re in Astoria!
May 14 · Allison L.I went with a group to Pye boat noodle and it was a very good experience. The decor and vibe of the place felt tropical and cool. There is a large outdoor seating space in the back which is a great feature. We ordered a variety of entrees and all were delicious. Staff very friendly and service was fast. Pricing was very reasonable considering the quality and serving sizes.
April 22 · Najeeb AbdullahThe food here was great! But they took a long time to come out (15-20m for appetizers and >30m for entree) which was unexpected from a casual eatery like this, where there’s no a/c and no one comes to refill your water. I liked the food but I don’t think I can wait that long for quick bites.
July 17 · L.DeliciousFirst time trying pork boat noodle , delicious Specially you can adjust the taste ( spiciness, sourness, n saltiness ) yourself.Very nice ambience tooVery nice service as well , the lady really very helpful.Feels very good here n of course the food becomes extra delicious because of theseDefinitely will come back again

This place truly stands out, not just for its amazing food, but for its unique atmosphere.I am a huge fan of their Boat Noodles (Kuay Teow Reua). This restaurant does an amazing job of capturing the true essence of my country's cuisine. Every time I eat here, it reminds me of home. I will definitely be back again and again. This is a little restaurant that I will keep coming back to!
