Samui Thai @Fire Island Introduce
For New York residents, especially those enjoying the unique coastal charm of Fire Island, finding exceptional and diverse dining options can often feel like a challenge. That's why Samui Thai @Fire Island, nestled in the vibrant community of Ocean Bay Park, is such a welcome and exciting addition to the local culinary scene. Since its opening, this establishment has quickly gained a reputation for providing authentic Thai cuisine, offering a refreshing and flavorful change of pace from the standard island fare.
The restaurant, named after the picturesque island of Koh Samui in Thailand, aims to transport diners through its food. The owner, originally from Thailand, has brought nearly 30 years of global restaurant experience—including in Brooklyn—to this Fire Island spot, ensuring that the flavors are genuine and meticulously prepared. The tone is friendly and professional, promising every local user a delicious and memorable experience. The commitment to authentic Thai food, combined with a focus on fresh ingredients, makes this a standout destination for lunch, dinner, or a quick bite while on the island.
Samui Thai excels in offering a menu that balances beloved classics with elevated House Specialties. For the adventurous palate, the restaurant serves up the rich, slightly sweet and satisfying Pad Kee Mow, which one customer highly recommends, noting that the kitchen can deliver a "very satisfying kick" even at the base level, and is happy to prepare it "Thai spicy" for those who love the heat. For those who prefer milder, comforting flavors, the Coconut Pudding is a recommended unique dessert, and the Tom Yum Goong soup or a refreshing Thai Lime Soda offers an excellent complement to any dish. The variety ensures that whether you're craving spicy street food-style noodles or an elegant seafood specialty, your taste for Thai is thoroughly satisfied.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1Love it here! A rarity at its core, this place will never get old in my book. It's a lovely change of pace from the usual fare of Fire Island! Everything I've eaten has tasted fresh and flavorful. For appetizers, I highly recommend the curry puffs! They are a decent sized puff and can be split in half to share, although you do get 3 per order. My favorite entree is Pad Kee Mow, as it has a very satisfying kick to it at its base level. I have ordered it "Thai spicy" and was satisfied with that, so if you can handle and love spice, go for it! The chicken I add to it is always moist and savory, and the chewy texture of the broad rice noodles complements the dish even more.Another appetizer I love is Tom Kha Gai, a sweet / very slightly spicy coconut milk based soup. The mushrooms in it were cooked perfectly and so adorable! If you aren't a huge fan of spice, I can highly recommend the Pad Thai (get your rice noodle fix!) or the Pad See Ew. The Grilled Branzino is also full of flavor and not spicy.BTW, their Boba and milk teas are super tasty and a nice sweet treat especially after spicy food! You can also try the Coconut Pudding- it's a mildly sweet, uniquely textured dessert and delicious!Overall, you truly can't go wrong here and won't find food like this many other places on the island!
July 14 · Emily CorteseHooray! We finally have tasty options for meals other than the same old same old in Ocean Beach. This is their first year so we cut them some slack... I am not a fan of paper plates but at least they have metal utensils. Every dish that we have tried has been delicious. Cocktail selection is just okay as they do not have a liquor license so there is no full bar. A great convenience is ordering online and picking up delicious hot food to eat in your own home with your own cocktails! We've visited many times over the summer and hope they stay in business for many years!
August 23 · Karen WarrenWe were there on a Saturday night in late September. The food was fine but it was consistently spicy - no other option. The plates were paper. The beer and wine in limited supply. The atmosphere is ok but the prices don’t match. The calamari was either cooked in old oil or burnt or both. The waitress was working a full house solo and did a great job given the circumstances. The two rice dishes - we each ordered a different one - looked and tasted exactly the same.Given the limited options on the island, it may do fine but it also may not. We shall see.
September 22 · Jen GaroneWe walked in and ordered to go. With friendly help with suggestions, ordered dumplings (6), pad Thai and chicken broccoli entrees. Told 15 min. At 25 we inquired, told soon. At 30 min we were on our way. Delicious food. You know the 'doggie bag' size of your take home leftovers? That was the size of our entrees with a $90 tab! We will not be returning.
July 15 · diane scarabinoHad a great meal here during Memorial Day weekend! Instantly felt like my wife and I were transported back to Thailand, where we spent 2 weeks last summer.Best Kai Soi I have found outside of Chang Mai. Wife loved the green curry! Will be back for mango sticky rice.
