Sabai Thai Introduce
Introduction / Overview: Experience Authentic Thai 'Sabai' in Midtown Manhattan
For New Yorkers seeking an escape to the vibrant, complex, and richly flavored world of Thai cuisine, look no further than Sabai Thai. Located conveniently in Midtown, Sabai Thai is more than just a restaurant; it’s an experience built on the principle of its namesake—'Sabai' (สบาย), which translates from Thai to ‘happy,’ ‘relaxed,’ or ‘comfortable.’ Since its establishment in 2018, the venue has cultivated a reputation as a premium destination for a cultural and culinary journey, unifying upscale dining with traditional Thai hospitality.
The kitchen, helmed by an experienced Executive Chef with deep roots in Central Thailand, skillfully balances authentic, traditional Thai flavors—inspired by the country's four regions—with innovative techniques and a sophisticated Western twist. Patrons can expect classics to be elevated, with a dedicated focus on fresh, high-quality ingredients. Whether you’re stopping in for a quick, delicious lunch or settling in for a cozy, romantic dinner, Sabai Thai offers a welcoming and memorable atmosphere that truly lives up to its name.
The ambiance is a notable highlight. Stepping inside, the hustle of New York City fades away as you’re greeted by an intimate, warm, and moody dining room. The decor features zen touches like lotus fountains, golden accents, and statues, with staff sometimes dressed in traditional Thai attire. This attention to detail creates an atmosphere that is simultaneously cozy, romantic, and distinctly upscale, making it an ideal choice for date nights, group celebrations, or even a delightful solo dining experience. The restaurant is popular for both lunch and dinner crowds, accommodating families, groups, and tourists alike.
The menu is expansive, inviting you to explore beyond the usual fare. Appetizers like the popular Sabai Sampler (calamari, chicken dumplings, spring rolls) and Homemade Curry Puff offer a varied and satisfying start. For main courses, a wide variety of specialties are available, showcasing the kitchen's flair for both traditional and creative dishes. Highly recommended items include the rich Khao Soi (yellow curry with egg noodles), the elegant Crispy Duck Basil, the unique Soft Shell Crab Fried Rice, and, of course, the classic stir-fried noodles like Pad Thai and Pad See Ew. For those with specific dietary needs, the menu is also highly inclusive, featuring dedicated vegan, vegetarian, and gluten-free options, such as the widely praised, flavorful curries like Gan Kiew Waan (Green Curry) and Gan Panang (Panang Curry), which can often be prepared with mock duck, tofu, or vegetables.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1Classic Thai food. The place has plenty of space. Only has one restroom though. I enjoyed their papaya salad as its not too salty and the Sabai sampler is amazing for the variety of food. My favorite is the Shrimp Pad Thai taste amazing and the sauce is well balanced, not too saucy neither too dry. One thing i did not enjoy though is the honey roti banana, the banana is too soft for my liking. I preferred the banana to be fried to give it a little texture. But overall I highly recommend this place.
September 06 · F GLamb was tasty with a well made coconut sauce. Service was good. If you like very spicy you will not find all the traditional side sauces you would expect (i.e: spicy fish sauce). Fried cream was also good. The restaurant is a bit loud but acceptable.
July 26 · Olivier MorinI had an absolutely wonderful dining experience at Sabai Thai in New York. From the moment I walked in, I was impressed by the warm, welcoming atmosphere. The interior is cozy yet elegant, with tasteful décor that creates an inviting and relaxing environment. It’s perfect for a casual night out or a special dinner. The service was outstanding — the staff were incredibly friendly, knowledgeable, and attentive without being intrusive. They took time to explain the menu and made thoughtful recommendations based on our preferences. Now let’s talk about the food — absolutely delicious! Every dish we tried was fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented. The Pad Thai was perfectly balanced, not too sweet, and the noodles were just the right texture. The Green Curry was rich and aromatic, with a good level of spice and generous portions of chicken and vegetables. The Mango Sticky Rice dessert was the perfect ending — sweet, creamy, and fragrant. What really stood out to me was the authenticity of the flavors and the care put into every detail. You can tell they use quality ingredients and cook with passion.I highly recommend Sabai Thai to anyone looking for top-notch Thai cuisine in New York. I will definitely be coming back!

October 13 · Nevin PhilipFantastic Thai restaurant! I ordered the Poh Pia Tod, grilled pork belly, Massaman curry with chicken, and the honey ribs. All were absolutely delicious. The service was excellent, and the atmosphere was cozy and inviting. I highly recommend this place!
