Yezo Thai Isankaya Introduce
Nestled in the bustling and professional environment of Midtown East, Yezo Thai Isankaya offers New York City diners a refreshing and authentic take on Thai cuisine, with a strong focus on the distinctive, bold flavors of Thailand's Northeastern (Isan or Esan) region. Unlike many standard Thai restaurants which primarily serve Central Thai food, Yezo introduces New Yorkers to the punchy, spicy, and herbaceous delights of Isan, characterized by staples like sticky rice, sharp salads, and grilled meats. The restaurant cleverly combines this regional authenticity with broader appeal, classifying itself as a Thai, Asian fusion, Japanese, and Ramen restaurant, creating a dynamic and diverse menu that offers something for nearly every palate.
The unique fusion element, particularly the presence of Japanese-inspired dishes and the "Isankaya" (a play on the Japanese Izakaya, or informal bar serving drinks and small plates) in its name, speaks to a modern, cross-cultural approach to dining. This is not simply a typical neighborhood Thai spot; it is a trendy, casual, and cozy establishment with a vibrant atmosphere that has earned rave reviews from local patrons. Customers highlight the fantastic drinks, fabulous food, and an overall good vibe, with one reviewer calling the experience 10/10 for "Vibes, food, and music." Signature dishes such as the Short Rib Massaman and the spicy, pungent Som Tum Pla La (Spicy Papaya Fish Salad) showcase the kitchen's commitment to both high-quality ingredients and regional Thai cooking techniques.
Yezo Thai Isankaya is proudly identified as an Asian-owned, LGBTQ+ owned, and women-owned business, adding an important layer of community spirit and inclusive identity to the Midtown dining scene. It aims to be more than just a restaurant; it’s a destination for a good time, emphasized by the presence of live music and highly energetic and attentive staff members who elevate the dining experience into a true "party." ★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1If you are down for a good time, good vibe and especially great food? Say less, come over to Yezo Thai!Drinks- fantastic!Food- fabulous! And for my first drunken noodle, it was delicious!!!!I would look nowhere else! And look for May because She will be the LIFE OF THE PARTY!!!!!
October 16 · Pauline ChengVibes, food, and music 10/10. Dishes were a mix of classic Thai and unique Thai fusion dishes. The som sum pla la (spicy papaya fish salad) especially was a highlight, as as the short rib. The staff (especially May!) also brought all the energy and were very attentive (and funny!) Would definitely visit again.
October 10 · Cameron GuanlaoJust had an amazing experience at Yezo Thai Isankaya! ✨ The cozy vibe and welcoming atmosphere immediately made me feel at home. The flavors are authentic and full of character — every bite was delicious 😍🍴.If you’re looking for real Thai food in New York, this place is a must-visit! 💛
August 20 · Катя БеловаDinner was delicious and portion sizes were great! We were seated quickly on a Saturday night and the happy hour was every day until 7 pm. Highly recommend their version of the Druken noodles if you like a bit of spice!
September 21 · Jill WarnerLet’s check out Yezo Thai Izankaya in Midtown for some Northern Thai dishes that sets to impress. Food is packed with flavor and cooked with care with nothing feeling generic. Gotta try their Crying Tiger appetizer. Super tender, smoky, and juicy. Another must try is their Short Rib Basil. It’s so good got me scraping the plate. Cocktails here are dangerously smooth and don’t even taste like alcohol. Super easy to down it but super hard to forget it. Don’t skip dessert because it’s something you do want to miss out on. The vibe is cozy but lively with great energy along with music that doesn’t overpower conversation. Service was on point as well. Friendly and attentive with great big smiles. Come check out Yezo for your next Thai lunch or dinner!
